Donald Trump is now the 47th president of the United States, as his victory in Wisconsin put him over the 270 threshold needed to secure the election, making him the second president to be elected to two nonconsecutive terms and the first convicted of felonies.
While speaking at Florida’s Palm Beach Convention Center earlier, Trump said he would not rest “until we have delivered the strong and prosperous America.”

Perhaps one of America’s most controversial political figures, just four years ago Trump claimed fraud prevented his election win in 2020, helped ignite a deadly insurrection at the U.S. Capitol, was convicted of felony charges and still emerged victorious against his opponent, Kamala Harris, who finished the race with 224 electoral votes.
Just after midnight on Wednesday (Nov. 6), a planned speech by Harris at Howard University – her alma mater – was cancelled.
The announcement came by way of campaign co-chair Cedric Richmond, briefly addressed the Howard University crowd, informing them Harris would address the public later that day.
“You won’t hear from the Vice President tonight,” Richmond said.
Additionally, for the first time in four years the GOP will have control of the U.S. Senate. Taking back the chamber gives Republicans a lead role in confirming the next president’s Cabinet, as well as any Supreme Court justice in the case of a vacancy.
“This was, I believe, the greatest political movement of all time. There’s never been anything like this in this country, and maybe beyond. And now it’s going to reach a new level of importance because we’re going to help our country heal,” Trump told his supporters around 2:00 a.m. on Wednesday.
“We’re going to help our country here. We have a country that needs help, and it needs help very badly. We’re going to fix our borders. We’re going to fix everything about our country and we’ve made history for a reason tonight. And the reason is going to be just that. We overcame obstacles that nobody thought possible,” he added.
