As mentioned before, Black history was made with Hip-Hop. The genre was made by Black people, and Black people have now made sub-categories within the category, taking the genre to unimaginable heights. Hip-Hop have evolved to more than just rhyming words, it became about telling stories. Hip-Hop is a sound that made Black people feel safe, and heard. So much so, that Hip-Hop was used in the court of law to incriminate Black people for such excellent storytelling. But that’s another long history lesson for another day, let’s get to the music!What was the first Hip-Hop song ever?
‘Rapper’s Delight’ by The Sugar Hill Gang was released in 1979. Although the song was preceded by The Fatback Band’s ‘King Tim III’ (Personality Jock), ‘Rapper’s Delight’ is widely recognized as the first rap song ever made because it was the first song of its genre that was played on a live radio broadcast.
